Gigabyte Technology has reported revenues of NT$4.7 billion (US$146.42 million) for September, up 17.9% on month and 4% on year, bringing its revenues for the first nine months of 2009 to NT$35.58 billion, down 2.77% on year. The company's third-quarter revenues grew 45.3% sequentially to NT$13.47 billion.

Gigabyte shipped about five million motherboards and 800,000 graphics cards in the third quarter of 2009, with four million of the motherboards being brand-based.

The company has predicted its motherboard and graphics card shipments are likely to decline 20% sequentially in the fourth quarter due to seasonal factors.

Concerning market rumors circulating that Gigabyte will make a decision at the end of 2009 or early 2010 whether to quit its handset business, the company refuted the rumor and reaffirmed that it does not plan to quit the business. Gigabyte recently launched its latest Windows-based smartphone, the GSmart S1200.

Gigabyte currently only has one ultra-thin notebook model available in the PC market. However, if demand for ultra-thin notebook becomes stronger later this quarter, the company plans to launch one more model.

For netbooks, the company plans to launch an Intel next-generation Atom N450-based netbook in December of 2009 or early 2010.
