Taiwan-based networking/communication device own-brand vendor D-Link, facing increasing price competition from China-based makers including TP-Link, has adopted a market segmentation strategy of offering cloud computing-based value-added services for its terminal devices, according to new company chairman Roger Kao.

D-Link has established mydlink, a platform of cloud computing-based value-added services, and has launched IP cameras and storage devices for the platform and plans to launch routers in 2012, with 40% of its products expected to be equipped with mydlink applications in 2012, Kao said.
