Projector suppliers find new ground in emerging markets

Projector vendors are finding new ground in emerging countries in Asia as consumer power in western countries becomes weak, according to industry sources.

ViewSonic is seeing more opportunities in markets of Indonesia, the Philippines, and Vietnam, compared with Taiwan and South Korea, and BenQ has reportedly become the top selling projector brand in Indonesia since 2007, sources said.

Market-wise, Epson, best known for its 3LCD projectors, takes up the largest market share at over 20%, according to sources. Optoma accounts for 8% of the projector market, the sources added.
