Thinking Electronic Industrial and Polytronics Technology, which make circuit protection components for handsets and PCs, both saw their consolidated revenues increase more than 10% sequentially in March.

Thinking has announced March consolidated revenues of NT$372 million (US$12.6 million), up 17.9% on month but down 2.9% on year. Consolidated sales for the first three months of 2012 slid 3.5% from a year ago to NT$957 million.

Orders coming from the smartphone, PC and consumer electronics sectors have picked up recently to fill Thinking's capacity, causing the inductor supplier's delivery lead times to lengthen, according to industry sources. Thinking's current orders reportedly are 50% more than its available capacity.

Polytronics has reported consolidated revenues of NT$139 million for March 2012, up 14.8% sequentially but down 2.1% from a year earlier. Consolidated sales amounted to NT$360 million from January through March, rising 1% from the same period of 2011.

Polytronics indicated that the current visibility of its orders is about one month. The firm remains unsure whether actual demand rebounds. The situation will become clearer in April, it added.
