Chime Ball Technology (CBT), a Taiwan-based supplier of automatic exposure machines and other equipment for the manufacture of PCBs, saw its revenues grow 57.5% sequentially in the second quarter of 2012 with net profits hiking 138% on quarter. The firm expects to post another sequential revenue growth in the third quarter.

CBT reported net profits of NT$36 million (US$1.2 million) on revenues of NT$356 million for the second quarter. Gross margin for the quarter arrived at 41.29% compared to 40.15% in the prior quarter.

CBT credited the positive results to fulfillment of orders secured previously. A number of its PCB clients started to install new equipment in the second quarter, said CBT.

With more orders to be fulfilled, CBT expects its third-quarter sales to register another sequential rise.

Many China- and Taiwan-based PCB manufacturers have started to upgrade to more efficient equipment, and remove aging equipment at their plants. Market sources identify the robust demand for PCB manufacturing equipment from China as a key driver for CBT's revenue growth in the second and third quarters.

CBT's revenues and net profits for the first half of 2012 totaled NT$582 million and NT$122 million, respectively, with gross margin at 40.84%. EPS for the six-month period came to NT$3.17.
