Digitimes Research: Taiwan 3Q12 LCD driver shipment value over NT$21.8 billion

Six Taiwan-based IC design houses shipped LCD driver ICs worth NT$21.837 billion (US$740 million) in total in the third quarter of 2012, growing on quarter by 15.9%, and the total shipment value will slip sequentially by 0.3% to NT$21.769 billion in the fourth quarter, according to Digitimes Research.

Of the third-quarter shipment value, 51.67% was for driver ICs used in medium- to large-size LCD panels and 48.33% for those used in small-size LCD panels, said Digitimes Research..

Novatek Microelectronics accounted for 38.92% of the third-quarter shipment value, followed by Himax Technologies with 22.42%, ILI Technology with 14.28%, Raydium Semiconductor with 12.17%, Orise Technology with 6.24% and Sitronix Technology with 5.98%.
