Digitimes Research: Taiwan LCD monitor shipments expected to decline 6% in 1Q13 Tony Huang, DIGITIMES Research, Taipei [Monday 28 January 2013]
Taiwan-based LCD monitor makers' shipments are expected to decline 6% on quarter during the first quarter 2013 to 23.45 million units largely as a result of a rise in channel inventory within China, according to Digitimes Research. Digitimes Research said LCD monitor sales were down in China during the fourth quarter 2012, causing China-based LCD monitor vendors to have higher-than-expected reserves of their products into the first quarter 2013. Additionally, Taiwan-based makers' LCD monitor shipments reached 99.38 million units in 2012, down 14.8% on year, indicating global demand was weak, largely due to the increased popularity for ultra-mobile devices, added Digitimes Research. In 2013 Taiwan-based TPV Technology is expected to maintain the global number one spot in LCD monitor shipments at 56.12 million units while global LCD monitor shipments are expected to reach 148 million, noted Digitimes Research. |
