Phoenix Technologies announces collaboration with Lenovo on the upcoming Intel Atom processor-based mobile platform

Press release [Friday 14 September 2012]

Phoenix Technologies Ltd., the global leader in UEFI firmware technology, products and tools, is pleased to announce its collaboration with Lenovo on its new ThinkPad Tablet 2. Powered by Windows 8 and Phoenix SecureCore Technology BIOS, the ThinkPad Tablet 2 is based on the new Intel Atom processor-based mobile platform. The ThinkPad Tablet 2 is a versatile mobile device that combines notebook functionality and tablet mobility, making it ideal for use in the office, home or when traveling.

Phoenix SecureCore Technology BIOS boasts a feature set that is robust enough to optimize Lenovo's ThinkPad Tablet 2 design, supporting mobility and connectivity features that include USB and I2C touch, a virtual keyboard, touch hotzone, Connected Standby, fTPM/TPM 2.0 and Windows UEFI Firmware Update (WUFU).

Tablets are primarily mobility and connectivity devices, yet, it is extremely important to make sure they are highly secure and manageable. "We chose Phoenix SecureCore Technology because it supports Intel Platform Trust Technology, providing compatibility with Windows 8 security features and offering comprehensive flash updates," said Thomas Butler, Director, Worldwide ThinkPad Product Marketing, Lenovo.
