The global supply for hard disk drives is expected to return to normal as early as the first quarter of 2012, according to Global Brands Manufacture (GBM), which makes PCBs and also provides assembly services for the boards.
GBM previously warned that bottlenecks in the HDD industry supply chain might erode the company's sales performance during the fourth quarter.
GBM has indicated that the ongoing tight HDD supplies caused by Thailand's floods will likely ease in the first quarter of 2012, earlier than its originally-predicted second quarter of the year.
GBM accumulated NT$32.19 billion (US$1.1 billion) in sales from January through November, a 3.3% decrease from 2010.
