Global top-3 memory makers are expected to see rising revenues from the memory business in the first quarter of 2024 with HBM products to be the key growth drivers.
Abstract

DIGITIMES Research found that DRAM and NAND flash revenues for each of the world's top-3 memory makers – Samsung, SK Hynix, and Micron – continued to climb in the fourth quarter of 2023, reflecting the gradual recovery of the memory market.

Looking ahead to 2024, the rebound in consumer electronics shipments, such as smartphones and notebooks, is expected to fuel memory demand. Furthermore, AI-enabled consumer electronics products are expected to drive market growth for high bandwidth memory (HBM) and low power compression attached memory modules (LPCAMM).

The combined memory revenues and operating profit margins of the top-3 makers improved in the fourth quarter of 2023. Apart from the success in clearing excessive inventory on the supply side, a rebound in electronic end-products demand was also a major driver.
