Digitimes Research: Global small- to mid-size LCD panel shipments to slip at CAGR -4.6% in 2017-2021
As Samsung Display, LG Display and Japan Display have shut down mostly 5G to 6G TFT-LCD lines to gradually expand AMOLED production capacity since the beginning of 2015, global shipments of small- to medium-size LCD panels will continue decreasing from 2.647 billion panels in 2017 to 2.189 billion units in 2021, equivalent to a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of -4.6% in the period, according to Digitimes Research

Digitimes Research: Japan allows use of electronic rear-view mirrors
Japan's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) on June 17, 2016 approved the use of electronic rear-view mirrors, mainly consisting of cameras and displays, in place of traditional models in automobiles, making Japan the first country to adopt the technology around the world, according to Digitimes Research

Digitimes Research: Cellular IoT may have limited opportunities for mobile telecom carriers

Digitimes Research: Global average LTE-based data transfer speed rises unnoticeable
While the number of LTE networks around the world is steadily on the rise, improvements in LTE-based download speeds have been relatively unmoved; for example, the global average speed of 13.5Mbps in the fourth quarter of 2015 rose by only 3.1Mbps from three years ago based on surveys by UK-based OpenSignal, according to Digitimes Research

Digitimes Research: China starts tightening up control on third-party payment service companies
The enactment of the administrative measures on non-financial institutions by the People's Bank of China (PBOC) in 2010 has since then resulted in a proliferation of more than 200 third-party payment service companies in China. However, a number of financial risk indexes in China have climbed along with the rapid expansion of the third-party payment market, according to Digitimes Times. To tight up its supervision and appraisal mechanism over the third-party payment service companies, as well as to put a break on the third-party payment market, the PBOC promulgated a set of administrative measures governing online payment by non-banking institutions in July 2016

Digitimes Research: TD-LTE development faces disadvantages

Digitimes Research: 7W and 9W LED light bulb pricing headed in different directions in China
August 2016 average retail price for 7W LED light bulbs (equivalent to 40W incandescent ones) in the China market increased 6.4% from June to CNY26.5 (US$4.0), while that for 9W models (equivalent to 60W incandescent ones) decreased 13.4% to CNY26.6, according to Digitimes Research

Digitimes Research: Taiwan handset makers to post decreased shipments in 4Q16
Shipments of handsets, mostly smartphone models, by Taiwan-based handset makers are expected to peak at 14.49 million units in the third quarter of 2016 before sliding to 13.47 million units in the fourth quarter, according to an estimate of Digitimes Research.
