GIGABYTE showcases most powerful BRIX at Computex

Press release

GIGABYTE Technology, a leading IT product manufacturer will showcase its most powerful BRIX mini-PCs at Computex 2014 this week. GIGABYTE has produced the BRIX ultra compact PCs for some time and premiered the BRIX Pro and BRIX Gaming earlier this year.

In the past, those ultra compact PCs were fairly underpowered, best suited for media playback as home theater PCs or for running digital signage applications. Leveraging its many years of experience in high performance hardware manufacturing, GIGABYTE has expanded the BRIX line ranging from the systems mentioned previously to models with an integrated Intel Iris graphics core, the BRIX Pro, and now the flagship BRIX Gaming.

The BRIX Pro houses a quad-core 3.2GHz Intel Core i7-4770R processor with an Intel Iris Pro 5200 chipset for graphics. As one of Valve's early partners in the Steam Machine building army. GIGABYTE will demo its BRIX Pro with Steam OS at TWTC Hall 1 during the whole week. The BRIX Pro will come with a 1TB HDD for plenty of Steam game storage, along with USB 3.0, HDMI, Bluetooth 4.0, and IEEE 802.11AC Wi-Fi connectivity.

Furthermore, GIGABYTE will showcase during the event the new flagship BRIX, the BRIX Gaming. The BRIX Gaming takes the signature compact design philosophy of the BRIX series, and adds to the mix a high performance Intel Core i5-4200H processor and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760. With this high end processor the BRIX Gaming is capable of CPU intensive applications like multimedia production, and of course with its superior graphics hardware the BRIX Gaming is built for the best gaming experience possible.

The BRIX Gaming features one Mini DisplayPort and two mini HDMI ports on the rear panel, enabling support for simultaneous triple display connectivity, making it suited for the office, the living room, and any place where serious gaming happens. The BRIX Gaming also supports the latest 4K display support. Though slightly taller than other BRIX models, the BRIX Pro and the BRIX Gaming are still below the 2.5" thickness category. The extra vertical space is an extra headroom for better thermal performance, and also a space to house a standard 2.5" HDD or SSD for storage. Compared to the mSATA flash storage that the BRIX Pro and BRIX Gaming have in common, the conventional SATA connector allows for more conventional storage. In conclusion, the extra size of the BRIX Pro and the BRIX Gaming simply equals extra power.
