Demand for LCD TVs from Taiwan makers dipped 7% in the first quarter due to a seasonal downturn worldwide. The sluggishness was more strongly felt in Europe and the US, as the subprime issue continued to shroud the economy in uncertainties. For Taiwan makers, demand during the shopping season around the Lunar New Year in February was able to drive up shipments compared to January. But the overall performance of the first two months of the year was weak.
