LSI Corporation announced the availability of a family of network accelerator cards that offload complex, compute-intensive functions, delivering high performance and reducing time to market. The accelerator cards come in a variety of industry form factors and are highly programmable, allowing OEMs to use existing software investments and reducing development costs.
The LSI Axxia Network Accelerator and Axxia Media Accelerator cards provide OEMs with solutions for real-time, deterministic acceleration of applications such as network intelligence, server load balancing, unified threat management, media transcoding and data analytics. These robust accelerator cards offload the host processor, resulting in a performance boost and lower power consumption that increases productivity while decreasing operating expenses.
"Packet and media processing applications are increasingly causing bottlenecks in today''s network environments," said Jon Devlin, director, Ecosystem Enablement, LSI. "The range of network accelerator solutions from LSI is fully supported by our ecosystem partners to help customers increase performance and lower latency for demanding IP-based activities in enterprise, data center and service provider environments."
The Axxia Network Accelerator family consists of the Intelligent Services Adapter, a PCI Express card for standard x86 servers, and the Advanced Mezzanine Card, designed for ACTA-based telecom chassis. The Axxia Media Accelerator, delivered as a PCI Express card, accelerates rich media processing in x86 servers. The entire family of network accelerator cards from LSI is supported by best-in-class capabilities offered by the LSI networking ecosystem, helping customers to deploy solutions at lower costs while giving them additional software resources for their products and enabling faster time to market.
"Our assessment of the Axxia platform confirms it as a strong target for our 6WINDGate packet processing software," said Eric Carmes, CEO of 6WIND. "A combined hardware-software solution can be optimized for high performance while also minimizing system-level power consumption. This type of integrated solution is also critical to reducing the development time for complex products in networking, cloud and mobile infrastructure markets."
"The robust deterministic attributes of the LSI communication and media processors provide maximum network throughput while preserving valuable CPU cycles for application processing," said Eddie Lai, director of business development, Advantech Networks and Telecom Group. "The cards allow OEMs to rapidly deploy solutions which meet the power, performance and lower-cost demands of next-generation mobile infrastructure elements in the Radio Access Network and the Evolved Packet Core."
