Taiwan makers' large-size TFT LCD panel shipments dropped 3.2% sequentially in first-quarter 2014, outperforming the worldwide average of 6% decline, partly thanks to reduced competition in the notebook segment from Korean suppliers. But weakened demand for notebook panels will result in a 2.9% decline in Taiwan makers' overall shipments in the second quarter.
