TSMC Solar on April 28 announced that it has attained a record energy conversion rate of 16.5% for 1.09m2 CIGS (copper-indium-gallium-selenide) thin-film PV modules using existing manufacturing equipment and materials, breaking the preceding record of 15.7% hit in 2013, and the energy conversion rate has been confirmed by TUV SUD.

TSMC Solar has offered TS-CIGS C2 HV thin-film PV modules with power output of 150-165W, with each designed to be glass on double sides and passing EL (electroluminescence) quality screening, the company indicated. TS-CIGS C2 HV is specifically for use in PV power-generating stations in the US market, TSMC Solar said.
