Coretronic expects October shipments for projectors and image devices to decrease about 20% sequentially and those for LED backlight units (BLUs) to slightly decline, according to the company.
However, Coretronic expects shipments for projectors and image devices in 2021 to grow 10-20% on year and those for LED BLUs to rise about 20%.
September sales of NT$2.916 billion (US$105 million) from LED BLUs mainly consisted of NT$883 million for TV and public information display applications, NT$468 million for monitors, NT$1.405 billion for notebooks, and NT$48 million for tablets, Coretronic said.
Coretronic has reported consolidated revenues of NT$4.888 billion for September, the highest monthly level since November 2018 with growth of 18.14% sequentially and 12.83% on year, and those of NT$13.046 billion for third-quarter 2021 increased 11.99% sequentially and 9.26% on year. Consolidated sales reached NT$34.719 billion for January-September, rising 12.20% on year.
Radiant Opto-Electronics shipped 10.486 million LED BLUs in September, falling 5.68% sequentially. The shipments consisted of 5.207 million BLUs used in smartphones, tablets and other hand-held devices, down 12.93% on month; 4.963 million used in notebooks and monitors, up 2.97%; 316,000 in LCD TVs, automotive and other displays, down 0.32%.
Radiant has begun shipping miniLED BLUs for 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro, according to industry sources.
Radiant has reported consolidated revenues of NT$4.644 billion for September, growing 1.39% sequentially but dropping 14.60% on year, and those of NT$13.744 billion for the third quarter dipped 2.05% sequentially and 12.92% on year. Consolidated sales reached NT$41.843 billion for January-September, rising 5.71% on year.
