AU Optronics (AUO) shipped TFT-LCD panels with total display area of 2.147 million square meters in November, growing 3.0% sequentially, according to the company.

While demand for LCD panels used in consumer notebooks and monitors remains weak, demand for panels used in business-use notebooks, commercial, industrial and medical displays as well as in transportation and infrastructure is strong and AUO has benefited from it, company chairman Paul Pend said. Global demand for LCD TV panels is likely to rebound, Peng noted.

AUO has reported consolidated revenues of NT$30.885 billion for November, increasing 1.65% sequentially and 19.01% on year, and those of NT$338.920 billion for January-November rose 39.99% on year.

Fellow maker HannStar Display shipped 24.42 million small- to medium-size LCD panels and 592,000 large-size panels and Hannspree-branded LCD monitors in November, respectively slipping 10.2% and hiking 61.0% sequentially.

HannStar had consolidated revenues of NT$1.911 billion for November growing 30.69% sequentially but dropping 20.12% year-on-year and those of NT$25.442 billion for January-November increased 49.81% year-on-year.
