Taiwan-based LCD panel makers, including Innolux, AUO, HannStar Display and Giantplus Technology, have posted mixed results for May 2022 amid adverse impacts resulting from lockdowns in China, inflation and falling panel prices.

Innolux saw its May 2022 revenues hit a 27-month low to reach NT$18.01 billion, representing a decline of 12.6% from the previous month and 42.6% from a year earlier. Revenues from January to May 2022 totaled NT$108.5 billion, down 25.5% from a year earlier.

Innolux shipped 10.58 million large-size panels in May, down 0.9% month-over-month; shipments of small- and medium-size panels reached 27.34 million units, increasing 3% sequentially.

The company said earlier that it expects shipment dynamics to edge up sequentially in second-quarter 2022 despite growing global economic uncertainty.

Innolux expects its shipments for large-size applications to increase 10% sequentially in the second quarter, with correspondent ASP falling 10-13%; shipments of small- and medium-size panels will expand 16-19% during the same period.

AUO's consolidated revenue reached NT$21.97 billion (US$743.74 million) in May 2022, up by 8.6% sequentially but down by 31.6% year-over-year.

Panel area shipments totaled around 1.76 million square meters in May 2022, up by 11.3% month-over-month, said AUO.

HannStar has disclosed its consolidated revenues reached NT$1.602 billion in May, up 15.6% on month but down 43.1% on year. For January-May, sales totaled NT$7.944 billion, down 40.9% on year.

It shipped 31.39 million panels for small- and medium-size applications in May, up 81.2% on month; shipments of large-size panel and own-brand products reached 312,000 units, expanding 722.6% on month.
