E Ink Holdings (E Ink), a leading e-paper company, is aggressively advancing its color e-paper products. In consumer applications, demand for e-readers and e-paper notebooks remains strong, while e-paper technology expands into laptops and phones, with various brands adopting or showcasing concept products.

At CES 2024, Transsion showcased its first personalized application product with an innovative phone design. The module is currently undergoing mass production validation and is expected to hit the market soon.

E Ink's color e-paper platform has entered mass production. Several global brands will launch color e-readers and e-paper notebooks in 2024, including larger-sized devices that are expected to drive a wave of upgrades.

Due to robust demand, E Ink reports that the 2024 production capacity for its Kaleido technology is already sold out, with sales exceeding expectations.

Beyond traditional e-paper devices, E Ink is expanding into new consumer product applications. Lenovo's ThinkBook Plus Gen 4, a dual-screen 2-in-1 business laptop, features a 13.3-inch OLED main screen and a 12-inch multi-color e-ink panel, emphasizing versatility in various modes. This product utilizes Kaleido color-printed e-paper technology.

Innovative designs: customizable displays and color-shifting technology

Lenovo also introduced the ThinkBook 13x Gen 4 SPE concept product at CES 2024, allowing users to customize lid patterns using E Ink Prism technology. This conceptual product supports up to 1,000 different images without affecting battery life, even when the system is off.

At Computex 2024, ASUS unveiled the ROG series Project Dali concept laptop, featuring 13-inch E Ink Spectra™ 6 color e-paper technology. Users can design personalized lid images, showcasing power savings, richer colors, and significantly reduced screen change times.

In the mobile phone sector, Transsion demonstrated its E-Color Shift Technology using E Ink Prism 3 at CES 2024. This innovation creates a variable color e-paper film on the phone's back, allowing personalized changes in color, patterns, and time information without a continuous power supply.

Chinese brand Hisense has been a pioneer in adopting e-paper technology for mobile phones since 2017. They have consistently released new or upgraded products, forming a diverse product lineup and achieving considerable sales success with each generation.

E Ink remains optimistic about its 2024 outlook, expecting stronger performance in the second half of the year. As consumer electronic products transition from monochrome to color e-paper displays and inventory of products like electronic shelf labels clears, the company anticipates continued growth in demand across various sectors.
