Abstract

According to DIGITIMES Research's survey of global shipments for August 2024 (excluding detachable models) from the top five notebook brands (excluding Apple) and the top three notebook ODMs: Peak consumer demand is becoming evident, and coupled with the lower shipment base in July, total shipments increased by 24% on-month. Compared to the same period in 2023, there was a 7% growth, indicating signs of stabilization after the previous market downturn.

In August, among the top five notebook brands, market leader Lenovo experienced a resurgence in European channel demand and growth in the Chinese market, resulting in a 30% on-month increase in shipments. HP saw a remarkable 50% boost in shipments compared to the previous month, driven by an aggressive push in European and American consumer markets, coupled with improved output from overseas production facilities. Dell, however, lagged behind Lenovo and HP in shipment performance, as demand for commercial devices has yet to show significant improvement.

In August, the combined notebook shipments of the top three foundries increased by 16% on-month. Among them, Quanta experienced significant growth in shipments, exceeding 20%, due to substantial order increases from HP and Asustek.
