DIGITIMES Research has found that thanks to the improved shipments of chips produced using 5/4/3nm advanced processes, Taiwan's foundry industry recorded better than expected sales in the third quarter of 2023, and the outlook for the fourth quarter also has been raised.
In line with the revised outlook, full-year 2023 revenue has been slightly adjusted upwards by one percentage point from the previous (August 2023) forecast, reaching US$78.7 billion. In the first quarter of 2024, the electronics industry will get rid of the interference of the COVID-19 epidemic, and the industry will return to the normal pace of the business cycle.
Taiwan's wafer foundry industry will enter the off-season in the first quarter, with an estimated quarterly revenue decrease of 6.5%, while full-year revenue in 2024 is expected to be driven by the continued increase in demand for advanced manufacturing processes.
