The global top-5 notebook brands, not including Apple, saw their combined shipments in January, not including detachable models, plunge 25% on month as the market has entered the slow season. Despite brand vendors' strong order pull-ins for new models, the overall momentum still decelerated sharply; however, the market was still on track for growth thanks to the on-year shipment increase of 19%.

Hewlett-Packard (HP) and Lenovo both suffered an over 30% on-month decline in January as their shipments were seriously influenced by the slow season.
