In July, among the top five notebook brands, Lenovo, the leader, saw weakened shipments in both the Chinese market and the education market, with shipments decreasing by nearly 30% month-on-month. Hewlett-Packard's (HP) shipment momentum was temporarily impacted by its ODMs expanding their production line relocation outside of China. Dell, on the other hand, performed better than Lenovo and HP due to a lower base in the previous month.
The top three ODMs saw a combined 19% month-on-month decrease in notebook shipments in July. Wistron experienced a less severe decline compared to Quanta Computer and Compal Electronics, as it received increased orders from Dell.
