Intel takes on AMD, adding 64-bit extensions to its Xeon line

Intel will start volume production of its 90nm, 32-bit Nocona server processors with 64-bit extensions in the second quarter, company CEO Craig Barrett said at the Intel Developer Forum (IDF) being held in San Francisco.
