Digitimes Research: Taiwan LCD monitor shipments decline over 10% in 2Q15

Betty Shyu, DIGITIMES Research, Taipei

Taiwan's LCD monitor shipments reached only 19.42 million units in the second quarter of 2015, down 10.3% from the same quarter a year ago, showing that the industry is still in a downturn, according to Digitimes Research's new report on LCD monitors.

Within those shipment figures, 20-inch and above size products held a 65.4% proportion. Due to a decline in upstream pricing for LCD panels, the ASP for monitors only increased slightly, bringing about a quarterly increase in output value at US$2.27 billion.

Qisda was the second largest provider of LCD monitors during the second quarter due to orders from Dell, holding a 15.6% share, Digitimes Research found.

Taiwan makers' shipments are expected to increase 4.7% sequentially in the third quarter to around 20 million but the shipment figure will still represent an on-year decline of 8.2%.

Global LCD monitor shipments are expected to reach 130 million in 2015, down 4.8% on year, with Taiwan makers accounting for 79.05 million.
