PPTC (polymeric positive temperature coefficient) device makers Fuzetec Technology and Polytronics Technology have obtained orders with shipments scheduled until the end of 2021.

In fourth-quarter 2021, demand for industrial PPTC thermistors will be stable while that for automotive models will hinge on whether automakers' supply chains suffer shortage of car-use semiconductors, Fuzetec chairman Chen Chi-sheng as indicating. Besides, Chinese clients' demand has become quite uncertain due to China's restrictions on power supply, Chen added.

Fuzetec is expanding production capacity for PPTC devices by about 40%.

Polytronics focuses on smartphone, tablet, notebook and consumer electronics applications, with Chinese smartphone vendors Xiaomi, Oppo and Vivo being major clients, accroding to industry sources.

China's electricity-use restrictions have prompted Polytronics to suspend operation of its factory in Kunshan until September 30 and will make up for the stoppage by working during October 4-7 holiday period. The factory mainly produces PPTC devices and TCBs (thermal conductive boards).

Polytronics's consolidated revenues reached NT$313.0 million (US$11.2 million) in August, up 110.52% on year and those of NT$2.016 billion for January-August hiked 89.91% on year.
