LED lighting firms report mixed financial reports

Everlight 1Q12 profits hit new low

LED packaging houses Everlight and Unity Opto have reported financial results for first-quarter 2012, with net profits for the former hitting the lowest since fourth-quarter 2008.

LED chipmakers Epistar and Genesis Photonics both reported losses during the first quarter due to decreasing prices for LED chip products, particularly in backlights for TVs.

Lextar reports 1Q12 net profit of NT$2 million

LED maker Lextar has reported first-quarter 2012 revenues of NT$2.194 billion (US$74 million), showing a 9% sequential decrease but a 22% increase on year.
