Worldwide top-5 notebook brands saw their combined shipments not including detachable models, drop 24% on month in July as they had already completed inventory preparations for back-to-school demand in May and June. Compared to the same month a year ago, the July volume rose 11%, the highest on-year growth in 17 months.
