The MIH Alliance gathered together about 200 members to attend the first meeting in Taipei on March 25 since the Foxconn-founded electric vehicle development platform was launched in October 2020.

MIH, an open hardware/software-integrated platform, has so far attracted more than 1,200 local and overseas members to join the alliance.

The alliance has decided to hold another member convention in June, followed by formal establishment in July. It released a new version of EVKit (developer tools for EVs) in October 2020.

Taiwan is such a small market that it is difficult to develop EV business based on a B2C business model, said Foxconn chairman Liu oung-Way. Instead, MIH can bring together expertise from companies and individuals on a B2B basis, offering a feasible approach to developing EV business in Taiwan, Liu noted.

Liu pointed out three principles for alliance: MIH is open to all members, allowing to avoid duplicated investment, reduce cost and shorten time to market; the platform has to seek business opportunities, especially in overseas markets, for members; and it is neutral and operated independently.
