Cable modem and gateway maker Hitron Technologies will begin to ship home-use gateways to operators of low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite-based wireless communication services in the second quarter of 2022, according to the company.

Demand for DOCSIS 3.1 cable modems and gateways remains stable, with shipments for received orders scheduled until the third and fourth quarters of 2022, Hitron said.

Hitron has offered HitronCloud, an in-house-developed integrated solution with cloud computing-based platforms and apps for home Wi-Fi network management, supporting Hitron-produced devices. So far, HitronCloud has been connected with nearly one million Hitron-produced devices such as cable gateways and extenders globally, the company noted.

Hitron has shifted its production base to Vietnam, where the previously short supply of components and materials has been improving since the fourth quarter of 2021.

Hitron posted consolidated revenues of NT$9.682 billion (US$348 million), gross margin of 20.29%, operating profit of NT$296.1 million, net profit of NT$71.6 million, and net EPS of NT$0.22 for 2021. The company has decided to distribute a cash dividend per share of NT$0.50 for 2021.
