IC inspection lab Materials Analysis Technology (MA-tek) has disclosed plans to establish a third Japanese location in Hokkaido, in addition to its current facilities in Nagoya and Kumamoto.
At a shareholder meeting on June 14, MA-tek chairman Hsieh Yong-fen praised the company's remarkable operating success in 2023, citing the effectiveness of its global layout approach. In 2024, the company plans to prioritize the expansion of its global business activities.
MA-tek will persist in its emphasis on advanced process customers and advanced packaging R&D services in Taiwan, according to Hsieh. To leverage Japan's semiconductor industry's resurgence, MA-tek will expand the offerings of its Nagoya and Kumamoto labs while also launching a third in Hokkaido, Hsieh indicated.
MA-tek has a strong presence in China, focusing on the requirements of third-category semiconductors and the self-sufficiency of local semiconductor supply chains, Hsieh noted. The company plans to broaden its offerings to clients in Suzhou and establish a fourth lab in China, according to Hsieh.
MA-tek reported NT$1.21 billion (US$37.3 million) in revenue for the first quarter of 2024, up 5.6% year-on-year, with a gross margin of 30.06% and net earnings of NT$139 million. The company also revealed that its cumulative 2024 revenue through May increased 4.9% from the previous year to NT$2.04 billion, attributable mostly to contributions from its Japanese labs and materials analysis demand.
