Aeonmotor unveiled the market's first electric touring motorcycle, the EV-C1, alongside the fuel-powered Brera X and the versatile light-duty MK150.
Despite shipment delays in the first quarter, Aeonmotor reports improved conditions in the second quarter. With new customers in South Korea, stable OEM shipments, and normalized exports, the company anticipates steady quarterly growth throughout 2024, aiming to transition from losses to profitability. Aeonmotor is also targeting a 30% market share in the red and yellow license plates.
Aeonmotor's Vietnam plant is now operational, with production schedules driven by customer demand and a focus on component inventory management. The plant will progressively move towards component assembly and full vehicle production, primarily for export to Europe and the United States.
Vietnam was selected as Aeonmotor's overseas OEM base due to the comprehensive motorcycle parts supply chain in Southeast Asia. The Hanoi Ba Thien industrial zone was chosen for its strategic location, near the airport and major manufacturers and suppliers. The Southeast Asian market benefits from a favorable population demographic and lower labor costs, with the added advantage of tariff benefits for exports to Europe and the US.
Aeonmotor anticipates that future OEM orders will increasingly shift to the Vietnam plant, but it remains to be seen which plant will dominate. Some customers prioritize product origin and quality over tariff benefits, favoring products made in Taiwan.
In partnership with South Korea's Bikebank, under its Dotstation brand, and Gogoro Network, Aeonmotor launched the all-electric EV-C1. Dotstation handled the design, while Gogoro Network provided the world's largest smart battery-swapping network.
Drawing on its expertise in Taiwan's motorcycle industry, Aeonmotor offers precise tuning and professional manufacturing. Over 1,000 units of the V-C1 have already been shipped to South Korea. The versatile MK150 is slated for a fourth-quarter 2024 release.
The Brera X, a yellow license plate model, was developed in collaboration with global giant KL Motor, targeting the niche ADV market. It has been re-tuned for Taiwan's road conditions and features a braking system from J.JUAN, a subsidiary of Brembo, and a racing-grade suspension system from Japan's KYB.
