LiteOn Technology plans to begin trial production of its 800V high-voltage direct current (HVDC) solutions in August as it prepares to scale next-generation power systems for AI data centers.
LiteOn is also partnering with US-based Wolfspeed, whose silicon carbide (SiC) technology has been integrated into LiteOn's 800VDC sidecars and power supply units (PSUs), designed for next-generation AI data centers operated by hyperscalers and expected to see broader adoption among major cloud service providers (CSPs).
Volume production targeted for 1Q27
Following trial production, LiteOn will provide samples to customers for verification before beginning a 13-week joint validation process involving LiteOn, customers and system integrators.
The testing will include integration between power cabinets and existing IT systems. LiteOn expects to begin low-volume production in November, followed by a broader production ramp in the first quarter of 2027.
ASIC customers are currently moving faster than GPU customers in adopting the new power architecture, according to the company.
The rapid expansion of AI infrastructure is accelerating the data center industry's shift toward 800VDC power architectures as operators seek higher efficiency, greater power density, improved scalability and lower overall system costs.

Wolfspeed brings SiC to AI power systems
Wolfspeed said its SiC MOSFETs can deliver more efficient power conversion across a wide range of operating conditions, helping system designers improve efficiency while reducing bill-of-materials costs and simplifying procurement.
The partnership combines Wolfspeed's SiC technology and 200mm manufacturing platform with LiteOn's data center power systems, targeting large-scale deployment of hyperscale AI infrastructure.
