Pure-play foundry United Microelectronics (UMC) has reported revenue increased 4.9% sequentially and 16.6% on year to a record high of NT$17.19 billion (US$620 million) in May 2021.
UMC saw its April and May revenue reach a combined NT$33.57 billion. Market watchers expect the company to see its second-quarter revenue meet or even beat the guidance given in late April.
At its most recent earnings call conference, UMC said that second-quarter bit shipments and ASPs would register sequential increases of 2% and 3-4%, respectively, with gross margin topping 30%.
UMC disclosed its cumulative 2021 revenue through May grew 11.9% from a year earlier to NT$80.67 billion.
