Foxconn chairman Young Liu dismissed speculation about a potential Nissan acquisition, emphasizing that the company seeks collaboration rather than equity control. "Acquiring shares is not our primary goal," Liu said.

Liu also hinted at imminent developments in Foxconn's EV push, promising an announcement within the next one to two months. However, he clarified that this news is unrelated to the ongoing discussions with Nissan.

Foxconn has engaged with multiple Japanese automakers, focusing on its Contract Design Manufacturing Services (CDMS) model. Liu stressed that any partnership—Nissan included—would steer clear of brand management and remain within Foxconn's established CDMS framework.

Reports previously suggested Foxconn considered acquiring Nissan equity to deepen ties. While Liu acknowledged interactions between the two companies, he reiterated that share purchases are not the priority. Foxconn remains open to equity investments if necessary for collaboration but is primarily focused on strategic partnerships.

Analysts suggest that if an agreement is reached, it could offer Nissan a fresh avenue for growth as the automaker navigates industry headwinds.
