Samsung Electronics has expanded its portfolio of CMOS image sensors to include the S5K6A1 and S5K5B3 for use in notebooks and other devices requiring video capture.
Samsung's new 1.3-megapixel (S5K6A1) image sensor supports camera modules with full 1080p HD at 30fps capability in a z-height less than 4.5mm. The new Samsung 2.1-megapixel (S5K5B3) image sensor has been designed for camera modules with 720p HD at 30fps capability in a z-height less than 3.5mm.
Built using Samsung's enhanced 1.75-micron pixel technology, new imagers have significantly improved sensitivity, said Samsung.
Samples for both the new CMOS image sensors are currently available with mass production scheduled for the second quarter 2010.
