Thailand-based PCB maker Apex International plans to invest NT$4 billion (US$132 million) to build a new plant to ramp up its capacity, according to the company.

The capacity ramp project will be carried out in two phases in three years, with the first-phase of construction to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2012 with a monthly capacity of 1.5 million square feet of PCBs, the company said, adding that the second-phase expansion project will add an additional capacity of 1.5 million square feet.

The new production lines to be kicked off in the fourth quarter of 2012 will focus on PCB products for telematics devices, and the company will also venture into HDI board segment through acquisitions.

Apex is scheduled to be listed on Taiwan's over-the-counter (OTC) market around late October with an initial price of NT$30-35 per share.
