Taiwan's PCB drill bits maker Topoint Technology is seeing its revenues increase month by month in the third quarter and expects fourth-quarter revenues to grow sequentially as a result of scaling down low-margin drilling services and expanding production of high-end drills for 5G PCB applications, according to company sources.
Topoint has seen the shipment ratio for drill bits for processing high-frequency and high-speed 5G PCBs rise to 10%, and expects the ratio to pick up further in 2021 due to growing penetration of 5G handsets.
To meet the increasing demand, the company has managed to boost its 5G PCB drill bits capacity by 10% through clearing bottlenecks at existing production lines. It has also set up new film coating lines at its plant site in northern Taiwan to support further capacity expansion for such drills.
Topoint still maintains part of its contract drilling services for clients, including laser drilling. Through the services, the company said it can get useful feedbacks from clients facilitating development of drills to better meet clients' needs. It is also stepping up development of innovative drilling tools for processing high-end rigid and flexible boards as well as IC substrates.
