India-based electronics manufacturers accelerate their move to venture into the emerging OSAT business amid lucrative incentive schemes and a favorable geopolitical environment.

CG Power and Industrial Solutions applied for OSAT incentives in India

According to filings to Indian exchanges on November 22, CG Power and Industrial Solutions applied with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, seeking approval to set up an OSAT facility, with an estimated investment on the project over five years of US$791 million funded by a combination of subsidy, joint venture partner equity contribution, and debt. The company said it is discussing with technology providers and anchor customers.

India collaborates with IPEF members in supply chain resilience

According to a joint statement released by the US Department of Commerce, 14 IPEF members, including Australia, India, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, and the US, will collaborate in building resilient and competitive supply chains.

Reliance Jio eyes Notebook-as-a-Service to disrupt PC industry in India

India notebook imports soar in September as vendors eager to avoid supply disruptions

IDC data shows that 4.5 million PCs were shipped in the third quarter of 2023, up 14% year-on-year, partly due to vendors trying to avoid uncertainties brought by license requirements. Data from the Department of Commerce of India indicates that India saw its September imports of notebooks grow by about 30% because of the license requirements, which were rolled back later.
