Server solutions provider Compal Electronics has joined forces with Intel, BP Castrol, thermal management specialist JWS, and professional chassis maker Priver Technology to unveil a cutting-edge Targeted Flow liquid cooling solution.
Compal's flagship server model, the SD220-8 (2U4N), serves as a showcase for this breakthrough technology. The development process incorporated precise thermal performance evaluations, simulating various natural and forced convection scenarios. Rigorous testing conditions ensured scientifically valid comparisons of different cooling solutions.
The innovative system leverages Intel's patented Targeted Flow technology, including its proprietary Targeted Flow Tank and Targeted Flow Heat Sink. Combined with BP Castrol's advanced immersion cooling fluid, DC 20, the solution reduces resistance in traditional liquid cooling systems by nearly threefold.
Beyond improved thermal performance, the solution creates opportunities for waste heat reuse, paving the way for its conversion into renewable energy and supporting the data center industry's transition toward a low-carbon economy.
