SEMICON Taiwan 2021, originally slated for September, will be postponed to December or January 2022.
Due to a spike in COVID-19 infections locally in Taiwan starting May, the government has raised the epidemic alert, closing facilities for large gatherings, such as exhibitions and conferences. Accordingly, SEMI Taiwan has announced the rescheduling of SEMICON Taiwan 2021 to either December 2021 or January 2022.
SEMI Taiwan said it is working on a contingency plan for rescheduling SEMICON Taiwan 2021 and will make an official announcement of the new date for the event later.
The output value of Taiwan's semiconductor industry topped NT$3 trillion (US$107.5 billion) in 2020, a record high, SEMI noted. "Taiwan is expected to build on that performance and carry that growth momentum through 2021, setting the stage for SEMICON Taiwan as one of the most anticipated events in the global microelectronics community," said the industry association.
