Hua Hong Semiconductor (Hua Hong) has announced the appointment of former Intel vice president Peng Bai as its new president, effective January 1, 2025. The appointment follows a broader leadership reorganization at Hua Hong Group, where Jian Qin has assumed the position of chairman. Junjun Tang, the former president, will transition to the roles of chairman and executive director.

According to ICsmart and other Chinese media outlets, the company made an unexpected announcement on the evening of January 1, 2025, detailing multiple leadership changes. Tang's appointment as chairman of the board and chairman of the nomination committee became effective December 31, 2024, coinciding with his resignation from the president position.

The leadership restructuring extends to the parent company, as Suxin Zhang, the former chairman of Hua Hong Group, has been succeeded by Qin, the chairman of Shanghai Alliance Investment. Zhang has stepped down from his positions as chairman of the board, executive director, and chairman of the nomination committee at Hua Hong.

In his new role, Bai will serve as both president and executive director under a three-year service contract beginning January 1, 2025. The 62-year-old semiconductor veteran brings extensive industry experience, having previously served as CEO of Rong Semiconductor. His career spans over three decades in semiconductor manufacturing, including various leadership positions at Intel, where he progressed from process integration engineer to vice president, overseeing roles in process integration management, yield engineering, and R&D.
