Following the meeting between India's Prime MInister Narendra Modia and Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, Nvidia announced a partnership with Reliance Industries for buildning AI infrastructure and to train engineers at Tata Consultancy Services, as the AI chip giant is looking to capitalize on India's AI potential.

According to Nvidia's press release, Nvidia and Reliance Industries will work together to build AI infrastructure that is over an order of magnitude more powerful than the fastest supercomputer in India today, with which Reliance will create AP applications and services for 450 million Reliance Jio customers and provide AI infrastructure to scientists, developers, and startups across India.

The AI infrastructure will be hosted in AI-ready computing data centers, eventually expanding to 2,000 MW, with execution and implementation managed by Jio.

In the press release, Huang said India has scale, data, and talent, adding that with the most advanced AI computing infrastructure, Reliance can build its large language models that power generative AI applications made in India for the people of India.

Mukesh Ambani, chairman of Reliance Industries, said that as India advances from a country of data proliferation to creating technology infrastructure, computing, and technology super centers like the one will provide catalytic growth, just like Jio did to India's digital march.

Besides, Business Standard reported that Nvidia would help India build AI engineering capabilities by upskilling and reskilling engineers in India, including 600,000 employees of Tata Consultancy Services. Huang said that India would produce and export more AI expertise than any other country, adding that Nvidia aims to double its workforce in India from 22,00 in the next few years.

The announcement by Huang came on the heels of his meeting with Modi, saying that they talked at length about the rich potential India offers in the world of AI.
