On September 18, HTC introduced its latest XR headset, the VIVE Focus Vision, designed to meet the demands of both hardcore gamers and enterprise users. This launch also aims to enhance HTC's business by expanding its hardware product lineup.

HTC announced that pre-orders for the VIVE Focus Vision opened immediately on September 18, with official sales set to begin in mid-October. The initial markets will include the US, Europe, Japan, and Taiwan.

According to HTC, compared to previous models, the VIVE Focus Vision features advanced eye-tracking with automatic interpupillary distance (Auto IPD) adjustment and high-resolution stereoscopic full-color passthrough cameras, providing users with more accurate depth perception in mixed reality. The new device is also equipped with infrared sensors to enhance hand-tracking performance in low-light conditions.

HTC said the VIVE Focus Vision can cater to next-generation needs, including entertainment, social interaction, learning, and business applications. Its support for standalone XR mode and DisplayPort mode, offering distortion-free PCVR content, makes it one of the most versatile XR devices.

Following the launch of its new XR headset, HTC plans to target hardcore gamers in the consumer market and prioritize the B2B sector, catering to industries such as digital twins, fire drills, law enforcement, public safety, healthcare, manufacturing, and finance.

HTC sales director Richard Chien noted that the company is evolving from a traditional hardware manufacturer into an integrated software and hardware solutions provider. As market familiarity and reliance on AR/VR/XR technologies increase, HTC expects overall market demand to grow in 2024 compared to 2023.

Recent IDC statistics show that in the first quarter of 2024, HTC was the fifth-largest vendor in the AR/VR device market, with the AR/VR device sales impacted by XR devices. Annual shipment growth for AR/VR/XR devices is projected at 7.5% this year, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 43.9% between 2024 and 2028.
