The Acer Group via its four affiliates - AOpen, Acer Being Communication, Acer ITS and Altos Computing - is eyeing the business opportunities from smart city development particularly applications for buildings, traffic and water resource management, according to AOpen president Dale Tsai.

AOpen has been devoted to the development of smart city applications and has obtained orders for industrial PCs (IPCs) from Volta Charging, the largest electric vehicle (EV) charging pile developer in North America.

At Smart City Summit & Expo (SCSE) 2021 from March 23-26 in Taipei, AOpen is demonstrating its cloud real estate management platform as well as its smart access control, temperature monitor, smart grid and data analysis system.

AOpen said its smart access control and temperature monitor can be integrated into public transportation systems' gates and ticket machines to conduct pandemic management and the solution has already been adopted by a few airlines.

AOpen's ConnectUX control center is able to connect with many IoT equipment to allow real estate companies to have full control over their properties' water and electricity usage.

Acer Being Communication has developed several solutions including smart water grid, water quality management and smart water storage, and an antibacterial superoxide machine for the healthcare market.
