The electric scooter market in Taiwan is experiencing significant growth, driven by an increasing variety of options and manufacturers diversifying their product lines to meet various application scenarios.

Aeon Motor notes that while Taiwan's electric scooters have primarily targeted urban or short-distance commuting, there is a growing need for products that cater to a broader range of market demands.

A prime example of this trend is the EV-C1, a collaborative effort between Aeon Motor, DotStation, and Gogoro. This model stands out as a rare new entry in Taiwan's electric scooter market and is the first Taiwanese electric scooter to be exported to South Korea.

The EV-C1 differentiates itself through professional tuning that concentrates its center of gravity, an ergonomically optimized rider triangle design, and a frame built to automotive standards. It also features enhanced rear cargo rack rigidity and a split seat design to accommodate multi-functional rider needs.

Gogoro's CrossOver, launched in late 2023, similarly aims for differentiation. Described as the "crossover SUV of the electric two-wheeler world," it combines urban commuting suitability with the space, safety, and performance characteristics of an SUV. Its adaptable design allows for quick transitions between passenger and cargo transport.

Recent sales trends in Taiwan's electric scooter market indicate that higher product differentiation attracts more market attention. June sales reached nearly 9,000 units, representing a year-on-year increase of almost 20%.

Gogoro maintains its market leadership, topping total electric scooter sales and both white-plated and green-plated scooter categories for the first half of 2024. The company's entry-level Jego model has stimulated market consumption, becoming the best-selling model in June, while its high-end Pulse model secured third place in white-plated electric scooter sales.

Gogoro's success can be attributed to its diverse range of models, which includes the S1, Premium, Delight, SuperSport, Viva series, CrossOver, Jego, and Pulse. This variety allows the company to meet a wide spectrum of market needs. Sales statistics reveal that many older models have fallen out of the top ten, underscoring the importance of product line expansion for maintaining market leadership and reflecting consumers' desire for innovative and diverse electric scooter options.

While Aeon Motor has yet to achieve outstanding sales performance, its extensive involvement in All-Terrain Vehicles (ATVs), scooters, and Utility Terrain Vehicles (UTVs) in overseas markets is notable. The potential introduction of more electrified products in these areas by Aeon Motor could open up new opportunities and is a development worth monitoring.
