Samsung Electronics attended Gamescom 2024, held in Cologne, Germany. With an alleged largest-ever exhibition hall of about 800 square meters, Samsung unveiled its new gaming monitor, the Odyssey 3D.

According to the Korean news outlet, Maeil Business Newspaper, Samsung has developed the Odyssey 3D, a gaming monitor that can show 3D visuals without needing to wear 3D glasses. With the usage of a lenticular lens on the front panel, images can be switched from 2D to 3D.

The Odyssey 3D incorporates eye tracking and view mapping technology. Its built-in stereo camera tracks the user's vision in 3D space while view mapping adjusts the image into 3D. Aside from 3D mode, the product also supports 2D mode, and users can freely switch between the two.

The Odyssey 3D comes in 37-inch and 27-inch sizes, both featuring 4K resolution display, 1ms gray-to-gray (GTG) response time, and a 165 Hz refresh rate, allowing gamers to enjoy the visuals without ghosting artifacts. This product has received the Best of Innovation award at CES 2024.

Samsung plans to release three new Odyssey OLED monitors in 2024 and expand sales in places including North America, Europe, and Australia. The Odyssey OLED incorporates Samsung's proprietary OLED Safeguard, minimizing reflections.

Samsung stated that in order to take the lead in the high-end gaming monitor market, more new technology will be developed. IDC's data shows that Samsung has ranked first for five consecutive years since 2019 among monitors with a refresh rate of over 144Hz in the gaming monitor market.
