TSMC saw its July revenue hit a record high of NT$186.76 billion (US$6.23 billion), with revenue for the first seven months of 2022 rising 41% from a year ago to NT$1.21 trillion.

Market watchers expect TSMC's monthly revenue to top NT$200 billion in August and September, thanks to strong demand for 5nm and 7nm process manufacturing. The foundry has also kicked off shipments for the upcoming iPhones, the watchers indicated.

TSMC estimated previously third-quarter revenue in US dollar terms at about 11.2% sequential growth at the midpoint, and a 34-36% surge for all of 2022.

On the other hand, specialty IC foundry Vanguard International Semiconductor (VIS) saw its July revenue decline 15.2% sequentially, as a result of fewer wafers shipped. VIS' cumulative 2022 revenue through July totaled NT$33.46 billion, rising 45.4% on year.

VIS disclosed previously customers are actively engaged in inventory adjustments. The 8-inch foundry expects to see its fab capacity utilization fall to 81-83% in the third quarter, with revenue set to drop 13-15% on quarter.
