China-based Realme, the seventh largest smartphone brand worldwide, is expanding its supply chain in India, eyeing the potential of the country's consumer electronics demand.
In addition to satisfying domestic demand, Realme is also looking to establish a production hub in India to also serve other overseas markets.
Nikkei Asian Review has recently reported that Realme will begin producing Bluetooth earphones in India in three months. All of its smart TVs and smartphones for the India market are now produced locally.
A report from Economic Times also indicated that Realme is partnering with ODM Khy Electronics to manufacture smartwatches in India, but has not yet had confirmed production schedule.
Figures from Counterpoint Research also noted that India's true wireless stereo (TWS) earbuds shipments increased 156% on year in the first quarter of 2021 with Realme being the third largest brand. India's wearable device shipments also picked up 170.3% on year with smartwatches increasing 463.8% and earphones 209.3%.
